Stuart Whitehurst is an independent appraiser and consultant of antiques and personal property. Stuart is a 28-year veteran of the auction industry, and is a generalist appraiser with extensive knowledge of American and European furniture, decorative arts of all types including ceramics and silver, as well as fine art. Stuart has appeared in numerous national and regional television and radio broadcasts, speaking about the world of antiques and collecting.

Stuart is also a licensed freelance auctioneer, and is much in demand as an auctioneer, speaker, and appraiser. He loves sharing his passion for history and antiques with others, and takes part in numerous not-for-profit appraisal days and charity auctions throughout the year. Stuart is happy to receive inquires as to how his expertise and experience can benefit an organization.

Fascinated since childhood with history and antiques, one of Stuart’s specialties is books and manuscripts. During his recent 16-year tenure with a New England auction house, Stuart was the Director of Fine Books & Manuscripts, and grew the department to international renown, achieving numerous world-record prices for rare historical documents, maps, and texts.

While based in Florida, Stuart enjoys travel, and is available for appraisal and consulting work throughout the country. Stuart works in partnership with fellow appraiser Sara Wishart.  He is a graduate of the University of Virginia, and is proud to have been a participant of PBS Antiques Roadshow since its premiere on the Public Broadcasting System.
